Is it common for asbestos to be found in industrial properties?

The general rule of thumb is that if your property was built before the year 2000 then it could house asbestos. This is because asbestos was not fully banned from use in the UK until 1999.

The HSE state - 

[If the property] was built before 2000, or you are unsure, presume the building contains asbestos unless you know for sure it doesn't.
